Dhamra Port observes National Maritime Day

Dhamra, 07.04.2025: National Maritime Day is celebrated annually on April 5th to honour India’s rich maritime heritage and the vital role the maritime sector plays in national trade and security. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness about the importance of the maritime sector in India’s trade, economy, and security.  The history of the day goes back all the way back to the year 1919 when our nation was still under British rule. On 5th Apr in 1919, the first Indian flagged ship MV SS Loyalty made her maiden voyage from Bombay to London. The ship was owned by Scindia Steamship Company. On the occasion of the National Maritime Day, every year Dhamra port celebrates the entire week leading to 5th Apr as the Maritime Week.
