South Odisha Development Council Task Force Holds Inaugural Meeting

Bhubaneswar:4/1/25: In a significant step towards the development of Southern Odisha, the first meeting of the South Odisha Development Council task force was held today.

This meeting represents a crucial milestone in addressing the region’s economic and social challenges.

Chaired by Nityananda Gond, the Minister of Social Security and Empowerment of the Disabled, Scheduled Tribes, and Scheduled Castes, the task force includes esteemed members such as Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, the Minister of Commerce, Transport, and Steel & Mines, as well as Gokulanand Mallick, the Minister of State for Fisheries, Livestock, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (Independent). Several MPs and MLAs representing the area are also part of the task force.

The meeting involved discussions with people’s representatives from various constituencies, focusing on the economic and social development of the districts of Malkangiri, Nuapada, Ganjam, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, and Kandhamal. The aim of these discussions is to lay the groundwork for transforming Southern Odisha into a prosperous and well-developed region.

The task force has been given 30 days to submit its report, which will include recommendations for the formation of the South Odisha Development Council, detailing its structure, working methods, and the districts it will encompass.
