Odisha Govt Deploys 50 OAS Officers For Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Bhubaneswar:26/12/24: Amid hectic preparations for the upcoming Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) to be held in Bhubaneswar in January 2025, the Odisha government on Thursday assigned a special task for 50 OAS officers for the mega event.

As per an office order issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management department, 50 OAS officers will be deployed in Industries department as Liaison Officers for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas from January 5 to 11.The officers have been asked to report to the Principal Secretary of, Industries department, on January 5 positively. Ahead of the grand event, the Odisha government is busy in hectic preparations to make it a success. The flagship annual event that celebrates the contribution of the Indian diaspora across the world in the development of the country will be held at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar from January 8 to 10.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the event, which will offer an opportunity to engage and connect with overseas Indians and enable the diaspora to collaborate in nation-building. President Droupadi Murmu, who belongs to Odisha, is slated to attend on the concluding day.

Since more than 5,000 delegates are expected to visit Odisha during the period, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has asked the state government to make arrangements for at least 4,500 hotel rooms.
