Minister of Energy Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has emphasized the need to integrate energy conservation

Bhubaneswar:14/12/24: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Energy Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has emphasized the need to integrate energy conservation into daily life.

“Our initiative in energy conservation should not be limited to seminars and conferences but should extend to our everyday habits—like switching off appliances when not in use and adopting renewable energy. Let’s work together to conserve energy and tackle climate change with the vision of a Viksit Bharat and Viksit Odisha,” said Singh Deo speaking at the State-level National Energy Conservation Day on Saturday.

The day began with a public awareness rally at 8 AM from Kalinga Stadium to Power House Square in Bhubaneswar, which was inaugurated by Singh Deo.

Organized by the Energy Department and CES, the rally aimed to raise public awareness about sustainable energy practices.

A state-level exhibition at the Lokseva Bhavan Convention Center showcased energy-efficient devices, electric vehicles, and solar panels. School students from 30 districts displayed innovative energy conservation models, encouraging the adoption of sustainable practices.

The event also highlighted a statewide quiz competition on energy conservation, in which 1,50,000 students from classes 7 to 10 participated. The top 30 contestants competed at the state level, with the top three awarded cash prizes of Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000, and Rs 3,000, along with certificates. State-level awards were also presented to various industries for exemplary energy conservation projects. Chief Engineer Nilanchal Panda concluded the event by extending a vote of thanks.
