President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated a statue of Santali writer and educator Pandit Raghunath Murmu at Niladri Vihar

Bhubaneswar: 3/12/2024:President Droupadi Murmu, who is on a five-day visit to Odisha, inaugurated a statue of Santali writer and educator Pandit Raghunath Murmu at Niladri Vihar in Bhubaneswar.

Upon her arrival at Biju Patnaik International Airport, President Murmu proceeded directly to Niladri Vihar to unveil Pandit Murmu’s statue, a distinguished educator from the Mayurbhanj district.

At Niladri Vihar, Minister Surjyabanshi Suraj and Principal Secretary Bishnupada Sethi welcomed President Murmu.

Murmu also paid her respects at Adim Owar Jarpa Jaher, a religious site for the Santals, located in Niladri Vihar of the state capital. She spent time in the garden, engaging in conversation with friends and acquaintances.

A warm reception was given to the President at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), where she arrived aboard a special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft. Governor Raghubar Das, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and other dignitaries greeted her at the airport.

Residents lined the streets from the airport to Niladri Vihar, welcoming the ‘daughter of the soil.’ Her stay for the night is scheduled at the Raj Bhavan.

Throughout her tour of Odisha, she is slated to visit Khurda, Puri, and Mayurbhanj districts to attend various events.
