Sundargarh:24/11/24: The North Odisha Development Council (NODC) would be formed in 2-3 months, said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday.
Speaking at a felicitation ceremony, organised by BJP at Sanskruti Bhavan in Sundargarh, the chief minister said a task force has already been formed to start the process of formation of NODC. A minister has been assigned the responsibility to carry forward the work, he added.
He said Sundargarh district, which is now under the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC), would be brought under NODC. “I want Sundargarh should be included in NODC. It will ensure rapid growth of the western Odisha district,” he added.
The state government formed WODC in 1998. Bargarh, Balangir, Boudh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Subarnapur, and Sundargarh besides Athmallik sub-division of Angul district were included in the Council.
