Bhubaneswar:25/10/24: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has been closely monitoring the State’s preparedness and situation for the impending cyclone Dana, which is likely to make landfall between Bhitarkanika and Dhamra early Friday, officials said tonight.
CM Majhi held a high-level meeting with senior bureaucrats and monitored the situation at the State Emergency Control Room, Rajiv Bhavan, in Bhubaneswar on Thursday midnight.
The Chief Minister along with Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari visited the Red Cross Bhavan here a little while ago and took stock of the preparedness of relief materials, set to be distributed to the affected people.
“I reviewed the status and progress of the relief preparations at the Red Cross Bhavan. After the cyclone, relief material packets will be distributed, which contain essential items such as Flattened rice, Sattu, Sugar, Candles, Biscuits and Water.
The landfall process of Cyclone ‘Dana’ commenced in the intervening nights of October 24 and 25 and is expected to continue till the morning hours of Friday, the India Meteorological Department said.
More than 6 lakh people have been evacuated from vulnerable areas in the State and moved to cyclone shelters where cooked food is being provided, officials said.
