35 lakh women received Rs 5,000 as part of the second phase of the disbursement process of Subhadra Yojana

Baripada:09 OCT 2024: Around 35 lakh women on Wednesday received Rs 5,000 each in their bank accounts as part of the second phase of the disbursement process of Subhadra Yojana, implemented by the Odisha Government.

The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Majhi, facilitated the transfer of funds into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts during a ceremony at Chau Ground in Baripada, with Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida also in attendance.

Women who did not receive the funds during the first phase due to various reasons were included in this second phase. Those who had completed their applications by October 7th were credited with the money today. A total of Rs 1750 crore was transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

Informing about the progress of Subhadra Yojana, the Chief Minister said that 1 crore 60 lakh forms have been distributed till date. Out of which more than 1 crore 30 thousand beneficiaries have applied under Subhadra. More than 28 thousand 40 Jana Seva Centers and more than 10 thousand 55 Mo Seva Centers are functioning in the state for registration in Subhadra. In the first phase, over 25 lakh beneficiaries were given the first instalment of Rs. Today, more than 35 lakh new beneficiaries were given financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh in the second phase of the first instalment financial assistance program.

Including the first and second phases, a total of more than 60 lakh women have received ‘Subhadra’ assistance so far. A total of Rs 3,000 crore was provided. In the program, the Chief Minister provided Subhadra assistance to 10 Subhadra beneficiaries.

To date, 5 lakh 78 thousand 178 beneficiaries have registered under Subhadra in Mayurbhanj district, out of which 1 lakh 37 thousand 816 beneficiaries have been paid into their bank accounts.

In this program, the Chief Minister honoured Umarani Mohanty of Basuaghai Gram Panchayat under Bhubaneswar Block of Khurda District, the first beneficiary to register under Subhadra Yojana, and Dayamani Kujur of Nuagaon Block and Soroda Village of Sundargarh District. The Chief Minister said that this honour is a beautiful recognition of their enthusiasm and participation in the Subhadra Yojana.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries are set to receive a total of Rs 10,000 annually in two instalments. The disbursements are scheduled for Raksha Bandhan and International Women’s Day (March 8). Over five years, each beneficiary will accumulate Rs 50,000 through the Subhadra Yojana.

The scheme is slated for implementation between the fiscal years of 2024-25 and 2028-29, with the state government allocating Rs 55,825 crore for its execution.
