Father of the Nation-Mahatma Gandhi was the “wealth of humanity” and a “model for the world

Bhubaneswar:2/10/24: The Father of the Nation-Mahatma Gandhi was the “wealth of humanity” and a “model for the world.” Gandhiji’s life was a continuous pursuit of truth, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said today while attending the state-level Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at Telengapentha in Cuttack.

Gandhiji’s connection to Telengapentha was highlighted, when he inspired locals to fight for independence, making the soil sacred. The Chief Minister urged everyone to follow Gandhiji’s ideology.

Majhi noted Gandhiji’s visit to Odisha multiple times showed his affection for the State. The CM quoted Gandhiji’s words, “Odisha is the land of my love.” He praised Gandhiji’s courage, truth, and non-violence.

The Chief Minister said that Gandhiji was the epitome of supernatural courage. Truth was his message. Gandhi’s life, sacrifice and penance made him great and noble. The Chief Minister said that humanity and divinity were united in him.

Under Modiji’s leadership, the government worked to fulfil Gandhiji’s ideals. Cleanliness, a key ideal, has been promoted through Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, now in its 10th year.

The Chief Minister highlighted successes like millions accessing toilets, cleaner surroundings, and development reaching villages. He said that 80 crore people receive free rations, and villages have pucca roads, water, electricity, and internet.

Gandhiji’s vision for village development is being realized under Modiji, the CM outlined. PM Kishan Yojana supports farmers, while Subhadra Yojana aids one crore Odisha women, he pointed out.

Majhi also honoured former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri on his Jayanti, noting Modiji prioritized Shastri’s ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ slogan by launching Agniveer Yojana.

The CM also felicitated meritorious students who participated in the state-level competition, successful entrepreneurs, and honored spiritual leaders saints, and many intellectuals.
