Bhubaneswar:24/7/24: Talasara MLA Bhabani Shankar Bhoi has been elected deputy speaker of the Odisha Assembly.

Ruling BJP legislator Bhabani Shankar Bhoi on Tuesday filed the nomination papers for the post of deputy speaker in the Odisha Assembly.

Having been elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly in 2019 and again in 2024, Bhoi is a seasoned member.

Previously, BJP veteran Surama Padhy was chosen as the Speaker of the assembly.

In the 147-seat assembly, the BJP holds 78 seats, followed by the BJD with 51, the Congress with 14, independents with three, and the CPI(M) with one seat.
