Narendrapur, April 25, 2024: Aligned with the theme of “Accelerating the fight against Malaria for a more equitable world,” Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) Meramandali, observed “World Malaria Day 2024” in Baulapur and Besalia Village, under the Sadasibapur and Gundichapada Gram Panchayats in Odapada block of Dhenkanal District. This collaborative endeavour, conducted in partnership with local authorities and healthcare providers, focused on amplifying awareness about malaria prevention strategies among the residents of these communities.
The Malaria Day observation commenced with a spirited rally organised by volunteers of TSF, chanting slogans calling for united action against malaria. Emphasizing key aspects of malaria prevention such as the use of mosquito nets, elimination of breeding grounds, and timely medical assistance, participants marched through the streets. Along the rally route, informational leaflets were distributed to community members, ensuring that valuable knowledge reached every household.
The rally garnered enthusiastic participation from over 70 attendees, including health workers such as ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist), ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife), AWW (Anganwadi Worker), CHOs (Community Health Officer), SHG members, and TSF volunteers. Amarendra Nanda, MPHS (Multipurpose Health Supervisor), welcomed and guided the team, while Sujata Pradhan, Sarpanch of Gundichapada delivered a valuable speech on the importance of malaria prevention and community involvement in disease control.
