Chairman 5T, and Nabin Odisha has reviewed progress of various development projects in Sundargarh

Sundargarh:4/1/24:  As per the direction of CM Shri Naveen Patnaik, Chairman 5T, and Nabin Odisha, Shri Kartik Pandian reviewed progress of various development projects in Sundargarh district and interacted with the public during the second day of visit. Shri Pandian visited Samleswari Temple at Sundargarh for development work review and also assessed the progress of other major projects at Vedvyas temple in Rourkela, Shiv Temple at Ghoghar, Shiv temple at Belsara.

The 5T Chairman reviewed progress of ₹48.11 Cr Railway Over Bridge at Rajgangpur. Later, he inspected other development projects in Sundargarh including MEGA piped water supply Projects which is set to benefit Kutra, Rajgangpur, Gurundia, Lahunipada, Koida, Nuagaon and Kuarmunda block; important bridges; Synthetic Turf Hockey Training Centre at Kuarmunda, Nuagaon & Bisra Block.

He interacted with public in Rajgangpur, Nuagaon & Bonai block and received grievances on various issues and assured early resolution. He narrated about commitment of Hon’ble Chief Minister in organising HockeyWorldCup2023 in Rourkela against all odds. Shri Pandian said that CM insisted on second host venue at Rourkela when FIH announced the mega sporting event in Odisha because ‘Bhubaneswar is state capital while Rourkela is Hockey capital of Odisha’.

The 5T Chairman recounted that CM expressed commitment to hold HockeyWorldCup2023 in Rourkela when the International Hockey Federation expressed concern about lack of hockey stadium, hotels and airport in the city. Despite Covid challenge and delays, Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium was constructed in just 15 months and also achieved the Guinness World Record for largest seated hockey stadium in the world.

Shri Pandian expressed that not only the stadium, 225 room accommodation and airport were also built in record time. Hon’ble Chief Minister named the stadium after the legendary Birsa Munda as a token of respect for his contribution to the freedom struggle. CM said that it was a tribute to Sundargarh for its contribution towards hockey in India.
