IIT Bhubaneswar organizes first-ever International Conference on Pollution Control for Clean Environment

Bhubaneswar, 15th December 2023: The first-ever International Conference on Pollution Control for Clean Environment (ICPCCE-2023) was inaugurated at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar on 15th December 2023. Jointly organized by the School of Infrastructure and School of Electrical Sciences, the two-day conference aims to provide opportunities to persons working in the field of Environmental Science and Engineering to share their research and practical experiences as well as to exchange research ideas for finding solutions to Environmental problems.

At the outset, the Convener of the conference, Prof. Rajesh Roshan Dash, delivered the welcome address and elaborated on the conference. Prof. Sreepad Karmalkar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar addressed the delegates and spoke on the need for research on advanced technologies to combat pollution for a clean environment. Prof. Makarand. M. Ghangrekar, Professor in Civil Engineering, at IIT Kharagpur, and an eminent researcher in the field of environmental engineering, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He threw light on the present waste management scenario in India and the rest of the world and the status of the pollution prevention measures.

The conference will have eight keynote addresses and more than 135 technical presentations in 2 days with 24 parallel sessions, in both offline as well as online modes. The technical presentations will focus primarily on the four tracks, viz. Environmental Monitoring and Management, Water Pollution Control, Air Pollution Control, and Solid Waste Management and Resource Utilization. The sub-themes under each of the tracks focus on the recent research on the progress of knowledge and technology development to combat current emerging environmental problems that are of interest to researchers globally. Selected papers of the conference will be published by Springer as a proceedings book volume.

Among others, Prof. Mukesh Khare, Retd. Professor of IIT Delhi and Prof. Brajesh Dubey from IIT Kharagpur were present at the inaugural ceremony. Dr. Sankaran Mohapatro, co-convener of the conference, introduced the chief guest. Dr. Manaswini Behera, co-convener of the conference, offered a vote of thanks on the occasion.
