NUA Odisha is taking significant strides in transforming the skilling landscape for the youth of State

Bhubaneswar:8/12/23: Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, NUA Odisha (NutanaUnnata Abhilasha) is taking significant strides in transforming the skilling landscape for the youth of Odisha. The emphasis on decentralized skilling is at the core of this transformative journey.

In a momentous event held at the SCTEVT auditorium, BBSR, several initiatives were launched today in the august presence of PritiranjanGharai, Minister, Skill Development and Technical Education, showcasing the commitment to strengthen the Skilled In Odisha brand.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, SD&TE Department, where she eloquently set the strategic roadmap of NUA Odisha as it is filled with demographic dividends for all categories.

The Minister in his address lauded the vision of the CM as today Skilled In Odisha has become a global brand. With wide opportunities in Digital skilling and emphasis on skilling at the doorstep with NUA Odisha, the youth will be empowered with employability.

Among several initiatives MoU with NIOS for ITI Students: A ground-breaking memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been established with the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), enabling ITI students to obtain their 12th class certificates. Over 20,000 ITI students annually will receive 12th-class certificates, opening new avenues for higher education and boosting their employability. New Age Skilling Launch of innovative skilling programs designed to equip youth with the skills demanded by the evolving job market. Digital Skilling with Nasscom: NUA Odisha has entered a partnership with Nasscom to provide digital skilling opportunities, aligning with the demands of the modern tech-driven world. The aim is to providing e-skilling opportunities for 1 lakh youths annually, with online courses curated in collaboration with industry leaders such as Microsoft, Coursera, and more.

Govt of Odisha’s commitment extends to the grassroots with the launch of decentralized skilling programs in 30 districts, bringing skill development to the doorsteps of local youth throughout the year via district skill centers. In the Upskilling Initiatives, more than 5,000 ITI students will be upskilled in new-age trades through short-term courses, augmenting their skills and enhancing employability. Empowering women with WSC Shakti aim to create women leaders through executive MBA programs and establish centers of excellence for girl students.

Among others, Reghu G, Director, Skill Development cum Employment, Prof. Saroj Sharma, Chairperson, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Kirti Seth, CEO, IT-ITeS SSC NASSCOM, Gangadhar Sahoo, OSD-cum-AS, SD & and other officials were present during the program.
