Solar powered or battery powered boats in Chilika Lake will help reduce pollution

Bhubaneswar:17/10/23: Boats that are powered by solar energy or batteries will soon operate at Chilika Lake. The State administration is now making preparations in this respect. The action aims to clean up Chilika Lake by lowering pollutants and carbon emissions. The Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) made a recommendation in this respect on Friday. The suggestion was made during a meeting that Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena presided over.

Senior representatives of the Forest & Environment, Animal Resources, Fisheries, Pollution Control Board, and OREDA departments, as well as Additional Chief Secretary for Energy Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Director for Tourism Sachin Ramchandra Yadav, and others, attended the meeting. It has been noted that the use of diesel-powered boats contributes to several forms of pollution, including sound, air, and water pollution.
