IIT Bhubaneswarand Taipei Economic & Cultural Centre in India explore Research and Academic Collaboration Opportunities

Bhubaneswar, 21st September 2023: With a view to exploring collaboration opportunities in the fields of Academics and Research, a two-member delegation team from Taipei Economic & Cultural Centre in India (TECC) visited Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar on 20th September. This visit was conducted as part of the International Relations programme of IIT Bhubaneswar. Prof Chin-Tsan Wang, Counsellor &Director, Science and Technology Division, TECC and Ms Ellie Chiang, Assistant Director of, Science and Technology Division, TECC visited the Institute and had an elaborate discussion on the possible collaborative research between TECC and IIT Bhubaneswar.

Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar had an interaction with Prof. Wang and Ms. Chiang during their visit. Prof. Karmalkar gave an overview of the Institute, the academic facilities for students and the initiatives being taken up towards research and innovation. He discussed the possibilities of collaboration between IIT Bhubaneswar and TECC in detail. Prof. Wang and Ms. Chiang explored the possibilities of exchanges of faculty, researchers, and students, along with research collaboration. They appreciated the facilities and provisions of the Institute. During this visit, the delegates of TECC envisioned to have research collaborations between IIT Bhubaneswar and different Universities in Taiwan through MoUs, especially in the areas of Internal Chip (IC) Design and Micro Biofuels. They also discussed the opportunity of an International Internship for the students of IIT Bhubaneswar in Taiwan.

During their visit, they visited different schools of the Institute and interacted with members of the faculty. The Heads of the Schools and faculty members had discussions with them and presented the academic and research activities of their respective areas.

It may be mentioned that IIT Bhubaneswar places emphasis on international collaborations to offer a platform of wholesome knowledge and expertise for the students to excel in academics and research as per global standards. As part of its International Relations, the Institute has signed MoUs with many international universities for collaborative research and international students and faculty exchanges. Some of these international institutions are Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, University of Edinburg, UK, University of Western Ontario, Canada, Warwick Manufacturing Group, UK and University of Texas, North Denton, Texas USA.

Dr. Ashis Biswas, Associate Dean (Alumni Affairs & International Relations) of IIT Bhubaneswar was present on the occasion and coordinated the visit of the delegates.
