ICAR-CIWA licensed the technology “Women Friendly Multipurpose Integrated Vertical Nutri-Farming System (IVNFS) for Vegetable Production

Bhubaneswar:18/9/23:ICAR-CIWA is continuously working for empowerment of women farmers. To ensure regular accessibility and availability of nutritionally diverse diets the scientists of ICAR-CIWA, comprising Dr Tania Seth, Dr Arun Kumar Panda & Er Chaitrali Shashank Mhatre developed the “Women Friendly Multipurpose Integrated Vertical Nutri-Farming System (IVNFS) for Vegetable Production with Mushroom and Poultry” technology. The IVNFS can be established in the homestead backyard and provide essential vitamins, minerals and protein to the farm families through regular access to nutrient-rich vegetables, mushrooms, eggs and meat obtained from this system. ICAR-CIWA commercialized the IVNFS technology on 14 Sep 2023 by signing an MoU with ‘The Centre for World Solidarity, Tarnaka, Secunderabad’.

Dr. Mridula Devi, Director ICAR-CIWA, emphasized that this effort will significantly contribute to the farm women’s resilience to climate vulnerability and offer a subsidiary source of income to the resource-poor farm families. Mr. Rajesh Kumar Jha, Director, Jharkhand Resource Centre, Centre for World Solidarity, Tarnaka, Secunderabad conveyed their gratitude towards the Institute for entrusting this technology to them and guaranteed immediate implementation of this technology for the benefit of farm women. Complete Technology document and hands-on training on fabrication, and package of practices for production of vegetables, mushroom and poultry in the Women Friendly Multipurpose Integrated Vertical Nutri-Farming System was imparted to officials of Centre for World Solidarity on 14 Sep 2023. During this event, Dr. Mridula Devi, Director ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar assured that all possible technical support will be extended for the popularization of IVNFS technology as and when required
