Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of Odisha has been recognized as the top performer in the startup ranking

Bhubaneswar:1/6/23: As part of the launching of the new industrial policy for the promotion of new industries in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in the state, Odisha Micro, Small and Medium Development Policy 2022, Odisha Food Processing Policy 2022, and Odisha Export Policy 2022 are being implemented, informed MSME Minister Pratap Keshari Deb addressing a presser here after a review of the achievements of MSME department by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.

According to this new industrial policy, 280 crore of financial incentives has been given to 2507 MSME units from the financial year 2017-18. Last year (FY 2022-23), financial incentives of Rs 50 crore were provided to MSMEs under various schemes.

There has been significant export growth in the MSME export sector. Exports have increased from Rs 562.70 crore in FY 2021-02 to Rs 1,32,405 crore in FY 2021-22. For the success of MSME, significant credit is being provided to micro, small and medium enterprises. It has increased from 170.38 crores in the financial year 1999-2000 to 62228.81 crores in the financial year 2022-23.

Addressing the presser Saswat Mishra, Principal Secretary of the MSME Department informed about MSME Parks. He said that MSME parks have been developed in every district mainly from state funds.

To promote entrepreneurship among the youth, 1,600 entrepreneurship development programs were conducted through DIC between 2018-19 and 2022-23. Financial incentives have been provided to startups and incubators recognized by ‘Startup Odisha’ under Odisha Startup Policy 2016 through 1,600 Entrepreneurship Development Programmes.

Till date 224 startups have been given monthly allowance grants, 86 startups have been given product development and marketing support grants, 17 startups have been given need-based support and 86 startups have been given subsidized incubation. In total, 18.63 crore financial incentives have been provided to startups and incubators in the last 2 years.

MSME of Odisha has been recognized as the top performer in the startup ranking and has been honoured with the national MSME Award, Mishra informed.Senior officers of the department were present at this press conference.
