Senior lawyer Dharanidhar Nayak has been elected president of the Orissa High Court Bar Association

Cuttack:26/3/23: Senior lawyer Dharanidhar Nayak has been elected president of the Orissa High Court Bar Association, while advocate Chittaranjan Swain is the new secretary. As per the one-bar-one-vote rule, 153 bar associations of the state voted on Saturday between 8.00 am and 3.00 pm.

Other elected members of the Orissa High Bar Association include Bidyadhar Pradhan (vice president), Debashis Nanda (joint secretary), Debashis Swain (assistant secretary) and Janaki Mahapatra (library secretary) of the bar association.

Altogether 3,055 of 4,297 registered members of the Orissa Bar Association cast their votes. Counting began an hour after polling ended.

A total of 4,297 lawyers were expected to vote for various posts at 37 booths in Cuttack. The entire polling process was video recorded and there was a provision for live streaming of the polling exercise. Members aged above 90 years have been allowed to vote from home.
