Meeting held to reduce the distressed migration related displacement of workers

Bhubaneswar22/4/25::A meeting under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo was held today at Lok Seva Bhavan Conference Hall to reduce the problem of displacement of migrant workers. In this meeting, a company named SBM Advisor gave a powerpoint presentation to Deputy Chief Minister Shri Singh Deo on the reduction in the pressing issue like displacement of migrant workers through milk production in Odisha. Minister of Labour and Employees State Insurance Shri Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia was also present in the meeting.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo currently holds the chairman of the task force formed to reduce the distressed migration. He added, at present, the government is looking seriously into this issue. The reasons for the displacement of migrant workers varies district to district. He advised the officers to analyze thoroughly and take suitable steps. The livelihood of the rural people can be strengthened by dairy farming & cattle rearing. It was observed in the meeting that the problem of labour migration can be reduced to a large extent by making women’s self-reliant and providing them with a permanent source of income throughout the year.

The representative of SBM Advisor LLP requested to provide incentives to the private sector also, along with the implementation of existing government schemes.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Mrs. Chithra Arumugam, Shri Suresh Kumar Vashishth, Shri Girish SN, senior officers of the Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department, Labour & ESI Department, Fisheries and Animal Resource Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Departments.
