Koraput bags Prestigious Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration

Newdelhi:22/4/25:In a marvellous and momentous occasion for Odisha, Koraput district has brought pride and prestige to the State with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi presenting the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration for the year 2024 in the Holistic Development of Districts category to the Koraput Collector, V. Keerthi Vasan during a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on the occasion of Public Service Day.
This prestigious national recognition celebrates the Koraput’s exceptional and efficient governance and the District’s successful implementation of 11 major Central Government Schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Sakhyam Anganwadi and Poshan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar and Mukta Bijuli Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma, Kisan Card, Mission Tikakaran, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Garh Garh Jal Jeevan Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin over the last 18 months. These initiatives have brought significant improvements to the lives of the District’s tribal communities, ushering in a new era of inclusive and sustainable development.
Emerging as one of only five districts across the country to receive this rare distinction, Koraput’s selection followed a rigorous multi-tier evaluation conducted by central authorities. The assessment focused on the district’s innovative approach, measurable impact, and commitment to inclusive, citizen-centric administration over a while.
Expressing his gratitude, Collector V. Keerthi Vasan said, “This award belongs to every individual in Koraput who has worked with dedication, integrity, and a shared vision for progress. It reflects the collective spirit and trust the people have placed in the District Administration.”
Beyond recognizing past accomplishments, the award serves as a strong encouragement for the district to continue its journey towards transparency, accountability, and excellence in public service. With enhanced access to essential services and a noticeable improvement in quality of life, Koraput is fast emerging as a model for efficient and empathetic governance.
