Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced new National Highway (NH) projects worth over Rs 4,000 crore for Odisha

Bhubaneswar:17/4/25:Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced new National Highway (NH) projects worth over Rs 4,000 crore. The initiative includes the foundation stone laying and inauguration of 19 road projects spanning 154 km, aimed at strengthening connectivity across key districts. The projects will significantly improve transportation networks in regions like Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal, and Nayagarh. Enhanced roadways will facilitate economic progress and regional accessibility, marking a pivotal moment in Odisha’s development.

Adding new chapters in Odisha’s prosperity with better road connectivity. Today 19 road projects 154 km total length in Bhubaneswar with an investment of more than 4,000 crore.Chief Minister of Odisha Mr. Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Mrs. Pravati Parida ji, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Kanak Vardhan Singh Dev ji, Minister of Public Works Department of Odisha Shri Prithviraj Harichandan ji, Transport Minister Shri Vibhuti Bhushan Jena ji, other ministers and MPs-MLAs and officers of the state.

Speaking at the inauguration event, Gadkari emphasised the government’s commitment to modernising highway infrastructure, stating that these projects would pave the way for better mobility, trade expansion, and economic growth. Local stakeholders and officials hailed the initiative as a landmark achievement in the state’s transport sector. We are committed to Odisha’s four-faced development by construction of national highways under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The projects launched today will improve the connectivity of Banarpal-Godibandha and Talcher-Kamakhyanagar section’s 4-lane widening. Construction of vehicle underpass in Balikuda, Shikharpur and Badchana will bring access to traffic.

17 ambitious projects have also been laid today with the aim of giving new pace of development to Odisha. 6 bridges will be built in these on sand, mahanadi, oil, elephant and sagda rivers. Construction of 05 EUP and 14 AUP in Bangriposi Ghat section of National Highway-49 will facilitate smooth and safe travel and wild animals crossing. Permanent improvement of 15 black spots in Ichchapuram section from Cuttack of National Highway-16 will help reduce accidents.
Construction of Titilagarh and Dharmagadh bypass will provide relief from traffic jams inside the city. Connecting to the additional 2-lane bridge on the Gangua drain in Palasuni will be easy. Daringbadi will provide better contact than tourist destination and employment will also be promoted. With improved road connectivity, Odisha is set to witness a surge in industrial investments and tourism, driving overall growth and prosperity
