Puri Gears Up for Rath Yatra 2025

Puri:16/4/25:The world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri is set to take place on June 27, 2025, and preparations are in full swing.A high-level meeting was recently held at the Circuit House Conference Hall, chaired by District Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain, to ensure a seamless execution of the festival.

Key Preparations Discussed

Officials from various departments participated in the meeting, discussing crucial aspects of the festival, including:

  • Chariot Construction: The traditional Ratha Katha Anukula (wood-cutting ceremony) has commenced, marking the beginning of the chariot-making process.
  • Infrastructure Readiness: Road repairs along the 2.5 km Grand Avenue route, improved parking facilities, and enhanced fire safety measures are being implemented.
  • Security Arrangements: Deployment of 180 security platoons, installation of AI-powered crowd management systems, and traffic control measures are planned.
  • Health & Sanitation: Special arrangements for drinking water supplymedical aid stations, and waste management are being put in place.

  • Akshaya Tritiya – April 30, 2025 (Start of chariot construction)
  • Devasnan Purnima – June 11, 2025 (Sacred bathing ritual)
  • Sri Gundicha Yatra – June 27, 2025 (Rath Yatra procession)
  • Sandhya Darshan – July 4, 2025
  • Bahuda Yatra – July 5, 2025 (Return journey)
  • Sunabesha – July 6, 2025 (Golden attire of deities)
  • Niladri Bije – July 8, 2025 (Deities return to the temple)

The Jagannath Rath Yatra is one of the most revered Hindu festivals, attracting millions of devotees worldwide. The grand procession features three majestic chariots, each carrying Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra, as they journey from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple.

Puri Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among departments to ensure a safe and well-organized event.

SP Vineet Agarwal outlined security measures, including joint investigations on unsafe buildings and fire safety reviews.

With meticulous planning and dedicated efforts, the 2025 Rath Yatra promises to be a grand and spiritually enriching experience for devotees worldwide.
