Major Boost for Public Health in Odisha
The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), a flagship initiative by the Government of India, aims to provide health insurance to economically weaker families, offering cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals. In Odisha, the scheme is expected to benefit around 3.52 crore people.
Health Minister Mahaling highlighted the strategic importance of launching the scheme from the Bali Jatra grounds, a culturally significant site, to ensure widespread outreach. He emphasized the state’s readiness to roll out the program efficiently.
Widespread Public Support
The initiative has generated a wave of optimism, especially among low-income families who will receive substantial support for medical emergencies without financial stress. The cashless facility under the scheme is seen as a game-changer in promoting affordable and inclusive healthcare.
The launch marks a major step forward in Odisha’s journey toward universal health coverage, aligning with the central government’s broader vision of health for all.
