Director General of Police YB Khurania vowed stringent action against those who created violence

Bhubaneswar:27/3/25: Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania today vowed stringent action against those who created violence at the Lower PMG Square in Bhubaneswar during the Congress demonstration over women’s safety.

While visiting the injured police personnel undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital, Khurania said that those involved in the attack on police personnel will not be spared. They will be arrested and put behind bars, he added.

“I have not only visited here to see the injured police personnel but also to see the barbaric activities caused by anti-social elements. Police officers and constables were severely beaten up. We will not spare anybody involved in the violence,” Khurania said.

Expressing displeasure, he said, “Those who have beaten up on-duty police officials will be arrested wherever they are. They cannot escape the law in any manner. Those involved in violence will be put behind bars. No one can even touch police personnel in uniform.”

As many as 15 police personnel have been admitted to Capital Hospital after being injured in the attack by protesters. A TV journalist also sustained head injuries while covering the event on the spot. On the other hand, PCC president Bhakta Charan Das refuted the allegation of Congress workers’ involvement in violence. “Those involved in violence are not our party workers. They must be outsiders or BJP supporters who wanted to thwart our demonstration,” he said.
