7th edition of KalabhoomiUtsav began at the OdishaCrafts Museum

Bhubaneswar:22/3/25:The 7th edition of Kalabhoomi Utsav began at the OdishaCrafts Museum today. The 5-day long festival was inaugurated by Smt. GuhaPoonam Tapas Kumar, Commissioner cum Secretary, Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts Department. Speaking on the occasionshe said that, the department is committed to carrying forward the rich tradition of handloom and handicrafts of Odisha.

PadmashreePrabhakarMaharana, PranatiChhotray, Director, Handicrafts and MD, Boyanikawere present at the event. Mrs. MadhumitaRath, Spl. Secretary delivered the welcome address while the Addl. Secretary proposed Vote of thanks.

After the inaugural function, a stone carving workshop “Sthapatya: Etching Livelihood on Stone” was organized. The panel discussion on carving craft was attended by National AwardeesUdayMohanty, Padma CharanOjha, IndramaniMaharana, MaheshwarOjha, Rajendra Mishra, BinayBhushan Jena, GolakPatra and Komal Kant Sahu from the Federation of Indian Export Organisation. The discussion was moderated by Devi Prasanna Nanda.

The Utsav will continue till 26th March 2025. On 23rd March a drawing competition will be organized for students of various schools and colleges. A summer camp will also be organized for students on March 24. The entry fee will be exempted for all on March 23 and 24. A workshop will be organized with the Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata on March 25 and 26. Every evening there will be Cultural programs showcasing the rich art & tradition of the state. The valedictory ceremony will be graced by Honorable Minister ShriPradeepBalSamanta, Cooperation, Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts, Odisha.
