Sports and Youth Services Department felicitated 165 athletes from 24 different sports disciplines

Bhubaneswar:19/3/25:: Our athletes are our pride. Odisha has carved out a distinct identity on the national and global sports stage due to the dedication and excellence of its athletes, said Sports Minister Shri Suryabanshi Suraj today. He also emphasized that Odisha’s sportspersons will continue to bring laurels to the state in the upcoming competitions.

Today, Sports and Youth Services Department felicitated 165 athletes from 24 different sports disciplines who have won medals in various competitions. A total prize amount more than 66 lakh was awarded to these 165 athletes.

The awarded sports categories included athletics, chess, cycling, hockey, karate, kho-kho, rugby, shooting, softball, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, pentathlon, weightlifting, wushu, triathlon, para-judo, para-swimming, etc.

Additionally, eight mountaineers were honored, with each receiving a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh. Several athletes expressed their joy at receiving the cash award and stated that it motivated them to perform even better in the future.

Minister Suryabanshi Suraj emphasized that the holistic development of sports and athletes remains our top priority. He highlighted that all necessary facilities and support will be provided to nurture the talent.
