SVNIRTAR Marks 50th Foundation Day with a Celebratory Event to Empower Persons with Disabilities

Olatpur/Bhubaneswar, 22nd February, 2025:The Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR) celebrated its monumental 50th Foundation Day today, on 22nd February 2025. This remarkable milestone represented half a century of steadfast dedication to transforming the lives of persons with disabilities (PwDs) through education, rehabilitation, employability, and advocacy. The event took place at SVNIRTAR’s premises in Olatpur, Cuttack, Odisha.

The celebration was graced by ShriManojAhuja, Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha, as the Chief Guest of the occasion and Shri Deepak Routray, Additional Secretary of SSEPD, as the Guest of Honour. Director, SVNIRTAR Dr. PatitapabanMohantyalongwith Deputy Directors of the institute were also present on the occasion.

The event commenced with the traditional and auspicious lighting of the lamp a symbolic start that reflects SVNIRTAR’s mission to spread knowledge, inclusion, and empowerment for persons with disabilities.

The program featured an insightful inaugural address by the Chief Guest, along with speeches from dignitaries who have played key roles in advocating for persons with disabilities in Odisha.

Addressing the function, the Chief Secretary said, “SVNIRTAR has etched its name in the annals of rehabilitation, not just as an institution, but as a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change.” Dedication, compassion, and expertise of the doctors and those who are associated with the service in this institution, have made a profound difference in the lives of countless individuals. He put forward this institute to continue to flourish, innovate, and set new benchmarks in the field of rehabilitation.

Following the speeches, attendees enjoyed a cultural program that showcased the incredible talents of PwDs, students, and staff of the Institute. The event also included the distribution of Aids and appliances to PwDs and a prize distribution ceremony honoring the winners of various competitions organized by SVNIRTAR, celebrating their accomplishments and demonstrating the power of inclusion.
