Odisha Mental Health Authority decided improving the patient care services in Centre of Excellence

Bhubaneswar:15/2/25:A  meeting on State Mental Health Authority was conducted under the chairmanship of Commissioner-Cum-Secy, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha, in the Conference Hall Department at Lok Seva BhawanDMET(O), DPH(O), DHS(O), Dir, Mental Health Institute, SCB MCH, Cuttack, Special Secy (PH) H&FW Dept, Additional Secy, H&FW Dept, Additional Secy, SSEPD Dept, Deputy Secy, H&FW Dept, Additional Dir (Mental Health), Additional Dir (Public Health) attended the meeting.
Discussion was held on improving the patient care services in Centre of Excellence, upgrading the infrastructure of the MHI building, implementing mental health rules 2017 in Odisha, and increasing MD Psychiatry seats at MHI.
The attendees also deliberated on improving the medical interventions in the treatment procedure of mentally ill patients by delineating the defining symptoms for each mental illness and the management thereof. Commissioner-cum-Secy stressed the need for identifying the category of mental illness in children, class-wise and disability-wise, and mooted upon timely reviews to monitor the progress in various hospitals at grassroots levels.
