Bhubaneswar:10/1/25:Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform Odisha into a mega IT hub within the next two to three years.
This initiative aims to focus on advanced training in Information Technology (IT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and semiconductor technology.
In a recent meeting with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Vaishnaw discussed the establishment of a world-class IT institute in the state. The proposed institute will offer cutting-edge training in IT, electronics, AI, machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), and Industry 4.0 technologies. This initiative is expected to prepare the youth of Odisha for the rapidly evolving tech industry.
The Union Minister emphasized the importance of the ‘Chip to Startup’ program, which will be implemented at four technical institutions: IIT Bhubaneswar, NIT Rourkela, IIIT Bhubaneswar, and Parala Maharaja Engineering College, Berhampur. This program aims to foster the development of IT startups in the region.
Additionally, Vaishnaw highlighted the central government’s commitment to investing in Odisha’s railway infrastructure. He mentioned that projects worth over ₹73,000 crore are already underway, with plans to introduce new railway projects in the next five years. The state will also see the introduction of six Vande Bharat trains and the upgrade of 59 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Chief Minister Majhi expressed his support for the initiative and assured the provision of suitable land and other necessary assistance for the establishment of the IT institute. He also sought the Union Minister’s help in setting up a semiconductor industry in Odisha.
