Odisha Chief Minister inaugurated the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme

Bhubaneswar:5/1/25: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday inaugurated the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme during the Adivasi Mela at the Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar.

The primary objective of this scheme is to reduce the dropout rate among Scheduled Tribe (ST) students. Under the scheme, a one-time incentive of ₹5,000 will be provided to ST students enrolling in Class IX and Class XI. This financial support aims to encourage higher enrollment and completion rates for secondary and higher secondary education among ST students.

The scheme has been implemented for the current academic year 2024-2025 and is exclusively available to Scheduled Tribe students whose annual family income does not exceed ₹2,50,000. The incentive will only be granted to ST students attending government and government-aided high schools and higher secondary schools within the state.

Eligible students will receive the ₹5,000 incentive directly in their bank accounts. The concerned Principal or Headmaster of the eligible high school or higher secondary school will recommend and process the applications for eligible students through the Odisha State Scholarship Portal.
