Odisha State Law Commission Formed

Bhubaneswar:27/12/24:The State Law Department Friday announced the appointment of members to the Odisha State Law Commission. The appointed members include Justice Biswanath Rath as the Chairperson, and other members such as Pitambar Acharya, Advocate General, Odisha, and senior advocates Surya Prakash Mishra, and Soura Chandra Mohapatra.

The official notification read: In pursuance to the Resolution of the Government of Odisha in the Law Department No. 2412-LRC-01/2016-L, dated the 16th March 2016 published in the Extra-ordinary issue of the Odisha Gazette No. 492, dated the 16th March 2016, the State Government do hereby appoint Shri Justice Biswanath Rath as the Chairperson, Sri Surya Prakash Mishra, Sr. Advocate, and Sri Soura Chandra Mohapatra, Sr. Advocate as Members of the Odisha State Law Commission and on being so appointed, the Odisha State Law Commission shall now consist of the following Members, namely:

(a) Shri Justice Biswanath Rath, Former Judge High Court of Orissa – Chairperson
(b) Shri Pitambar Acharya, Advocate General, Odisha – Ex Officio Member
(c) Principal Secretary to Government Law Dept. – Ex Officio Member
(d) Sri Surya Prakash Mishra, Sr. Advocate – Member
(e) Sri Soura Chandra Mohapatra, Sr. Advocate – Member
(f) Secretary of the Commission who is ex-officio Additional Secretary to Government – Member Secretary.
