Tata Steel Foundation’s RISHTA Empowers Over 80 Youth at Manthan Yatra in Dhenkanal

Meramandali, December 20, 2024: Tata Steel Foundation’s (TSF) RISHTA (Regional Initiatives for Safe Sexual Health by Today’s Adolescents) successfully concluded its Manthan Yatra on December 18th, 2024, at Bangurshing Kalyan Mandap in Dhenkanal.  The event brought together over 80 youths and adolescents from Odapada block for a day of empowerment, inspiration, and leadership development.

The Manthan Yatra featured a vibrant mix of cultural performances, including captivating Nukkad Natak (street plays) and dynamic dance routines showcasing youth talent and community engagement.  Engaging Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) centered on leadership development, digital literacy, and the vital role of youth in community transformation.

Distinguished guests, including Ms. Anuradha Goswami (DCPO, Dhenkanal), Ms. K. Roja Dora (DSDEO, Dhenkanal), Dr. Anant Ku Raul (MOIC, Odapada), Dr. Dibyajyoti Mohapatra (MO, Odapada), and Village leader Mr. Jagabandhu Dalei, addressed the participants, emphasizing the importance of youth development and digital empowerment.  The event also recognized outstanding young changemakers for their impactful community projects.

Through interactive activities, the Manthan Yatra focused on building leadership skills, boosting confidence, and enhancing digital literacy among participants.  The program fostered collaboration and idea exchange, empowering the youth to take charge of their communities and contribute to positive social change.

Noteworthy that, RISHTA, currently engaging approximately 15,000 adolescents and their parents in the Odapada block of Dhenkanal district, tackles critical issues such as reducing adolescent fertility rates and preventing underage marriages.  The programme empowers youth, particularly girls, through awareness-building and support, fostering a cadre of future leaders who can address critical social challenges and promote healthier lifestyles.  RISHTA aims to equip young people with the knowledge and skills to advocate for their rights and drive lasting positive change in their communities.
