Nobel Laureate Dr. Michael Kremer visited Krushi Bhavan in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar;8/12/24:  2019 Nobel Laureate in Economics, University of Chicago Professor Dr. Michael Kremer  visited Krushi Bhavan in Bhubaneswar and learned about the progress of Odisha’s agriculture sector.

Dr. Kremer has been working towards the reduction of poverty in the world and for this, he was awarded the prestigious Nobel Prize in 2019. He is currently working as a senior professor at the University of Chicago. Dr. Kremer expressed his happiness on seeing the increase in crop production despite the impact of cyclone ‘Dana’. Besides, he also appreciated the provision of weather information to the farmers through the ‘Krushak Samrudhi’ portal regularly by the agriculture department. Later, he visited the ‘Krushak Samikhya Kendra’ an integrated command and control system of the Agriculture Department, and learned about its working procedures. In the past, Dr. Kremer and his team have worked in collaboration with Odisha and expressed the opinion that this collaboration will continue in the future.

During the visit of Mr. Michael Kremer to the Krushi Bhavan, he was accompanied by the Principal Secretary of Agriculture Department Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Director of Agriculture Shri. Prem Chandra Choudhary, Director Horticulture Shri. Nikhil Pawan Kalyan and other senior officials.
