Inter-Ministerial Committee is set to be formed to resolve Odisha’s disputes with neighboring states

Bhubaneswar13/11/24:: An Inter-Ministerial Committee is set to be formed to resolve Odisha’s disputes with neighboring states. A decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhavan.

The meeting focused on various inter-state disputes, including Polavaram, Bansadhara, Mahanadi, and Kotia, aiming to find solutions to these long-standing issues.

Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Advocate General Pitambar Acharya, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunj Bihari Dhal, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, and Principal Secretary, Law Department Manas Ranjan Barik were present in the meeting.

Notably, Odisha has been involved in several water disputes with neighboring states, such as the Bansadhara River Water Dispute with Andhra Pradesh and the Mahanadi Water Dispute with Chhattisgarh
