All our heritage sites including Dhauli will be Developed:Mohan Charan Majhi

Bhubaneswar:4/11/24: The Dhauli Hill is not an ordinary hill but holds a glorious past of Odisha’s history. It symbolizes the bravery, courage, and strength of the brave children of Kalinga, said Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Dhauli inaugurating the 52nd foundation day celebrations of the Dhauli Shanti Stupa. He added that Dhauli is a place of pilgrimage that has been united by the tears and blood of heroic children of Odisha.

Attending the programme organized at Dhauli on occasion, the Chief Minister said that after the Kalinga War in 261 BC, Emperor Ashoka took a vow of peace and embraced Buddhism. This Statue of Peace was established by the efforts of the Japanese government less than 52 years ago. Since then, it has been a symbol of peace and friendship.

The Chief Minister said, “When Buddhism is discussed, Odisha’s name comes first. The extent of Buddhism that spread in Odisha and that can be seen in Bihar-Odisha cannot be seen in any other province of India. Buddhism spread in Odisha from the 6th century BC. A decisive turning point in the history of India took place on the banks of Daya River in the land of Dhauli,”

He further said Dhauli may be an icon of Buddhism but it has become so integrated with the Odia language, culture, and traditions that the people of the state have accepted it as a part of their culture. The Dhulai Shanti Stupa will be further developed and the surrounding area will be extensively improved. The Chief Minister said that there will be a coordinated plan for the development of all our heritage sites including Dhauli.
