Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Press meet briefing about Cyclone ‘DANA’

Bhubaneswar:24/10/24:Cyclone ‘DANA’ is at 150 KM from the port city of Paradeep and it will cross in between Bhitarakanika and Dhamara of Odisha at midnight today i.e on 24-10-2024. It is moving at a speed of 10 Kmph. Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Cuttack & Dhenkanal, these 11 districts are forecasted to be affected by the Cyclone.
As many as 2163 villages of 64 blocks, 64 wards of 13 ULBs, and 4,54,800 people are expected to be affected by the cyclone. Till now 4,17,626 people have been evacuated. They have been kept in safe shelters and provided with cooked foods. 7284 shelters are opened and out of it 5209 shelters are functioning full fledgedly. 862 qntl. of Chuda and 97 qntl. of Gura are being distributed to the people. Due to the ongoing incessant rainfall around 500 livestock are affected. 213 no. of medical teams, 120 no. of veterinary teams are deployed across the State. 3654 Pregnant women are being shifted to healthcare facilities/Maternity Home (MAA Gruha).

Till now 385 total response forces have been deployed. Out of it 19 NRDF teams, 51 ODRAF teams, 95 OFDC teams, and 220 Fire service teams have been deployed. The Rural Development Department has deployed 256 teams to clear and restore the Roads informed Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Shri Suresh Pujari. Special Relief Commissioner Shri Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary Rural Development and Information & Public Relations Department Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, and other senior officials were present during the Press Briefing held today evening at Special Relief Commissioner, Rajib Bhawan.
