Bhubaneswar:23/10/24: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), Odisha, and MGM Healthcare Pvt Ltd, Chennai in the presence of Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling for heart transplantation in SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Odisha Government is committed to providing the best healthcare services to the people of Odisha. The MoU is a bright example. Heart patients, particularly those economically weaker section, will immensely benefit from the new initiative, said Minister Mahaling. Heart transplantation will begin in SCB MCH in a couple of months, he added.
MGM, Chennai had provided hands-on training to two teams from the Medical Colleges of Odisha free of cost. As the infrastructure is available at SCB MCH Cuttack, MGM Chennai expressed intent to conduct heart transplantation free of cost for the initial 10 cases.
They will also take all steps like hands-on training, suggestions for functionalization, patient screening, and post-operative follow-ups at stet-run premier hospital. Subsequently, further transplantations will be carried on by the team of Doctors of SCB MCH, Cuttack, informed H&FW Department.
DMET Director Dr Santosh Kumar Mishra and MGM Healthcare’s Co-director Dr. Suresh Rao signed the MoU in the presence of Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Commissioner cum Secretary Aswathy S, Dr. Manoj Kumar Pattnaik, HOD , CTVS, SCB MCH, Dr Sura Kishore Mishra, HOD , Cardiology, SCB MCH and other senior officers of health department.
