Odisha government has decided to retain the original name of the ‘Biju Patnaik Sports Award’

Bhubaneswar: 22/7/24:In a recent turn of events, the Odisha government has decided to retain the original name of the ‘Biju Patnaik Sports Award’. The idea to change the award’s name faced criticism after the government initially issued guidelines to rename it the ‘Rajya Krida Samman’.

Following widespread objections and concerns, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi clarified on Sunday that there were no plans to alter the award’s title. He acknowledged Biju Patnaik’s contributions to the state and the nation, stating that the name would remain unchanged.

Today, the government issued a notification stating the cancellation of the previously published notice on 19th July concerning the name change.
