Manufacturing has been the main engine for growth of the economy of a country. To achieve GDP growth for any country, the manufacturing sector has to grow. To achieve a sustained rate of growth, the manufacturing sector needs to build and maintain competitiveness needed to face the challenges posed by globalization.

The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector has been a significant contributor to manufacturing by accounting for nearly 40% of total industrial production. However, the facilities within these MSMEs as well as in Large Industries are not enough to cope with the ever-increasing demand for skilled manpower. With this view, the Government of Odisha aims to establish state-of-the-art 02 (two) Tool Room & Training Centres/ Mini Tool Rooms (MTRs) equipped with machines with advanced technology and state-of-the-art infrastructure, CTTC, Bhubaneswar shall provide hand-holding to train our youths in Odisha in Advanced Technology and Precision Engineering and make them industry ready.

These environment-friendly state-of-the-art laboratories can also be used in production by making tool & die with very good quality and as per the demand of the nearby industries with the mutually agreed price to generate the Internal Revenue, which will help these MTRs to self-sustain.

These MTRs will not only cater to the needs of the industries nearby but also enhance the skills of the youths from ITIs and Diploma colleges in the field of Manufacturing and Automation. Students from nearby engineering colleges and polytechnics will also benefit from add-on short-term training which will be imparted by the Technical Experts from CTTC Bhubaneswar.

In addition to bridging the skill gap in the industrial automation sector, these MTRs will open employment opportunities for the passed-out trainees by honing their skills to perfection, as experts from CTTC Bhubaneswar will provide one-year hand-holding in training the trainers too.

Training and manufacturing are the key factors of employment, the Minister added. He said Vikashit Bharat and Vikashit Odisha solely depend on growth and employment generation. Employment-linked incentives get top priority. Areas to be selected where employment can be generated. There only more incentives to be given. He also pressed on employment through Nijukti Mela.
