Bhubaneswar:20/7/24: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) legislature party held an important meeting in Bhubaneswar on Saturday to chalk out its strategy for the upcoming budget session of the Odisha Assembly.

The legislature party meeting was chaired by BJD president and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik. All the 51 MLAs of the regional party were present at the meeting held ahead of the Assembly session beginning on July 22, party sources said. Addressing the meeting, Naveen Patnaik advised the party legislators to work to safeguard the interest of the state and its 4.5 crore people.

Noting that the regional party has been given a new responsibility by the people, the meeting resolved that BJD will discharge its duty as an effective opposition. The legislators were asked to keep a close watch on the functioning of the departments assigned to them by the party supremo.

BJD chief whip Pramila Mallik and deputy chief whip Pratap Keshari Deb told reporters after the meeting that the party president and LoP discussed different issues to be raised during the upcoming Assembly session.

The BJD MLAs were asked to keep a close watch on the functioning of the BJP government and see whether the promises made by the saffron party in its election manifesto were properly implemented.
