Ashish Kumar Singh, IGP (CM Security) is transferred as OSD in the Home Department

Bhubaneswar:11/7/24: The Odisha government on Thursday transferred IPS officer Ashish Kumar Singh and posted him as OSD in the Home Department.

A notification issued by the Home Department stated that the 2004 batch IPS officer was working as IG of police for the Chief Minister’s security.

“Ashish Kumar Singh, IGP (CM Security) is transferred and posted as OSD, Home Department with immediate effect,” the notification read.

Singh was sanctioned leave from May 4 to June 2 and accordingly joined back on June 3. On June 27 the Home Department had sought the whereabouts of Ashish Singh. The next day, Odisha DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi stated that Singh had resumed duty in the special intelligence wing on June 3.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) had directed Singh to appear before a board of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for a health check-up following complaints from the BJP that the IPS officer was working in favour of the BJD in polls though he was on sick leave.

After a six-member board of the AIIMS submitted its report stating that Singh was mentally and physically fit, the Election Commission had written to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha to forward the AIIMS report to the Chief Secretary for necessary action against the IPS officer.
