Bhubaneswar:6/3/24:Under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Pradeep Kumar Jena, the Secretariat meeting has been held in the conference room of Kharbeh Bhavan. Development Commissioner Mrs. Anu Garg along with Additional Chief Administrative Secretaries, Principal Administrative Secretaries, and Commissioners and Administrative Secretaries of all other departments participated in the meeting.
In the financial year 2023-24, by the end of February 2024, information was provided by the finance department regarding the financial performance of various departments and the state. According to the financial allocation in the budget, it has been reported that there has been a significant increase in the expenditure of various departments by the end of February this year compared to the end of February last year. In the meeting, the Chief Administrative Secretary reviewed the work progress of various departments and gave necessary suggestions.
The meeting informed that in the field of revenue collection, mainly due to good performance of GST, land revenue, vehicle tax, ED, own tax revenue has increased by 18% compared to last year as of February 2024. Similarly, non-tax revenue increased by 20% as of February 2024 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, mainly due to growth in mining revenue and profits earned. As of February 2024, the total revenue collection has increased by 23.42% compared to last year.
Last February, the Chief Minister launched the Lakshmi bus service in 21 districts, and 20 US bus stands were inaugurated in 13 districts. In 2023-24, 25.63 lakh acres of rabi crops were cultivated, which is 91 percent of the target.
For the first time in the state, Fish and Animal Gathering Odisha-2024 has been held, which will greatly increase the economic growth of the farmers. The Chief Minister’s Senior Weavers and Artisans Assistance Scheme has been introduced in Textiles and Handicrafts and Handicrafts Department. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with the Department of Higher Education and JNU for the establishment of Biju Patnaik Special Center for Studies and Research in Odisha Language.
Approval for establishment of 7 Odisha Chairs in different states, implementation of new scholarships, and inauguration of 750-bed Bagchi-Sri Shankar Cancer Treatment and Research Centre. 1st World Oriya Language Conference to be successfully held at Janata Maidan, Implementation of Swayam Yojana for providing financial assistance to rural youth, the opening of CSP outlets in 2000 unbanked villages in our state, etc.
