Eminent linguist Padmashri Dr. Deviprasanna Patnaik will be presented with ‘First Odia Bhasa’s Samman” 

bHUBANESWAR:31/1/24:Eminent linguist Padmashri Dr. Deviprasanna Patnaik will be presented with ‘First Odia Bhasa’s Samman”  on the occasion of the World Odia Language Conference. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Patnaik will give this honor to him in recognition of his high level of research and life-long practice for the Odia language Dr. Patnaik’s valuable contribution towards giving classical status to the language is well known.

He will be given Rs 20 lakh and a letter of appreciation on the occasion of the first World Odia Language Conference to be held at the Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar from February 3 to 5.

Devi Prasanna Pattanayak (born March 14, 1931) is an Indian professor, linguist, social scientist, and writer. He is the founder and director of the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, and former chairman of the Odia Research Institute, Bhubaneswar. Mr. Pattanayak was awarded the Padma Shri in 1987 for his contribution to formally adding the Bodo language to the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. He also played a key role in guiding Odia to attain the status of a ‘classical language
