Delegates of DAAD visit IIT Bhubaneswar to spread awareness on Higher Education in Germany

Bhubaneswar:6/1 1 /23: With a view to spreading awareness about the opportunities for Higher Education in Germany, a two-member delegation team from DeutscherAkademischerAustauschdienst(DAAD) visited Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar on 5th November 2023. Mr. ApoorvMahendru, Deputy Director, Head of Marketing, DAAD-India, and Ms. IshikaD’Monty, Scholarship Program Officer, DAAD-India had an elaborate interaction and shared presentations with the Deans, Heads of Schools, and students on the possibilities of higher education and research for the students in Germany.

Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar interacted with both the delegates during their visit. Prof. Karmalkar gave an overview of the Institute, the academic facilities for students, and the initiatives being taken up towards research and innovation. The two-member delegation team from DAAD elaborated on various scholarships and other benefits available in different universities in Germany. They also addressed different queries of the students. It is to be noted that IIT Bhubaneswar had signed an MoU with DAAD on 30th June 2023 for a period of three years, to promote collaboration between IIT Bhubaneswar and German Universities and/or research institutions.

It may be mentioned that IIT Bhubaneswar is giving emphasis on international collaborations to offer a platform of wholesome knowledge and expertise for the students to excel in academics and research as per global standards. As part of its International Relations, the Institute has signed MoUs with many international universities for collaborative research and international students and faculty exchanges.

Dr. Ashis Biswas, Associate Dean (Alumni Affairs & International Relations) of IIT Bhubaneswar was present on the occasion and coordinated the visit of the delegates.
