High-level meeting to widen the cyber awareness program across the state was held in Lok Seva Bhawan

Bhubaneswar:24/9/23: A high-level meeting to widen the cyber awareness program across the state was held in Lok Seva Bhawan conference hall on Saturday evening. The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Kumar Bansal, ADG, Crime Arun Bothra, Principal Secretaries, Commissioners-cum-Secretaries of various departments, Collectors of all districts, SPs and senior officers of Home department were present in the meeting.

The Chief Secretary gave necessary instructions and suggestions for the successful implementation of the program in all districts with the help of the district administration and the district police.

Jena directed the Collectors to prepare a road map as soon as possible for the success of the program.  He said that as cybercrime is a major issue widespread awareness about it is essential. He emphasized on sending cyber awareness messages through mobile every day during campaign days.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department DK Singh said that due to lack of cyber awareness, especially, senior citizens, women, and common people are becoming victims of financial frauds, and life and property are affected.

ADG, Crime, Bothra made a presentation on extensive preparations to enhance cyber awareness from September 30 to October 15.

According to the plan, the program will be launched from Bhubaneswar on September 30. Cyber Awareness Rath will be launched in every district headquarters from October 2.

As many as 34 chariots will travel to various schools, colleges and panchayats of the district. Schools and Mass Education, Higher Education, Panchayati Raj  and Drinking Water, Information and Public Relations,  Skill Development and Technical Education, Electronics and IT, Mission Shakti departments, etc. have been directed to ensure their active cooperation in the campaign.

Peoples’ representatives, MLAs, voluntary organizations, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers will be involved at the district, sub-division and panchayat levels. In this context, quiz competitions, short plays, padyatras, marathons, cycling, wall painting, mass media publicity will be organised to create awareness among school and college students.

To make the program extensive, cooperation will be sought from organizations and experts with technical knowledge in the field of cybercrime prevention and data security.

People will be made aware on various cyber frauds and crimes such as ATM fraud, proper use of internet, safe financial transactions, prevention of criminal activities through use of social media such as Facebook, YouTube etc.

In addition, various measures were discussed in the meeting to ensure that aspirants do not fall prey to various rumors and scams as the recruitment process in various departments of the state government is underway.
