Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan laid foundation for renovation of Hirakud Station

Sambalpur:6/8/23: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized on Sunday that the previous UPA government had been reaping profits from Odisha’s railway sector without actively engaging in development efforts, in stark contrast to the present Narendra Modi Government, which is diligently undertaking various developmental initiatives in the state.

Pradhan made these remarks during the ceremonial commencement of the renovation project for the Hirakud Station.

He pointed out, “During the span of 10 years from 2004 to 2014, the UPA government allocated a sum of Rs 2.90 lakh crore to Odisha, whereas the Narendra Modi government has generously allocated over 19.85 lakh crore in the last nine years.”

Pradhan further elaborated, “This substantial investment signifies the Modi Government’s unwavering commitment towards propelling the development of Odisha.”

Drawing attention to Prime Minister Modi’s personal connection with railway stations, Pradhan recounted that the Prime Minister holds sentimental memories of his formative years beginning at a railway station. During his childhood, the Prime Minister’s father operated a tea stall at a railway station.

Pradhan underlined, “The foundation-laying event today resonates with the Prime Minister’s deep-rooted commitment. Post-renovation, the railway station will be transformed into a facility akin to an airport, outfitted with modern amenities and conveniences, mirroring those offered by airports.”

He concluded by attributing this transformative vision solely to the foresight of Prime Minister Modi, stating, “It is the visionary leadership of our Prime Minister that has made this extraordinary transformation attainable.”
