NHAI Launches Plantation Drive on the Auspicious Occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava

Bhubaneswar:12/7/23:The  National Highways  Authority of  India  (PIU-Bhubaneswar) is  proud   to announce the commencement  of  a  grand  plantation drive  as  part of  the Azadi  Ka  Amrit  Mahotsava,  a nationwide celebration marking 75 years  of India’s  Independence. Building on the success of the previous year’s  initiative, the NHAI  is once  again  taking the lead  in  promoting environmental sustainability and preserving the nation’s natural beauty.

In  continuation  of  our  commitment  to environmental  stewardship,  PIU-Bhubaneswar will  be organizing a single-day plantation drive  across  the country, in sync with the spirit of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava.  This  momentous  occasion will  witness  the concerted efforts of  NHAI’s  Regional   Offices  as they  conduct  extensive  plantation  activities  along   the  National  Highways,  including the  plantation around Amrit Sarovars.

The   plantation  drive,  scheduled  for   12.07.2023,  aims   to  create  green  corridors along   the National  Highways,  enhance the natural landscape,  and  contributes to the overall beautification of the nation.  Through   the  plantation of  diverse trees  and   plants,  NHAI  endeavors to  create  sustainable ecosystems that benefit both the environment and  local  communities.

Last  year’s   plantation  drive,  held   on   July   17,  2022,  received  widespread  recognition  and participation, garnering extensive coverage in both print and  digital media. With a resounding success, it motivated us  to continue our  efforts and  embrace this year’s  Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava with renewed determination.

NHAI invites  individuals,  local  communities,  and  organizations  to join hands  in this  noble  cause by actively participating in the plantation drive. Together, we can  sow the seeds of a greener, healthier, and  more  sustainable future for our nation.

Mr./Ms.  Veerendra  singh,  Refional  Officer   at  RO-Odisha,  shared  their  enthusiasm  for   the plantation drive,  stating,  “We  are   thrilled to once   again   undertake this  initiative  on  the momentous occasion of  Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava. By planting trees along  our  National Highways, we  are  not only contributing  to the beautification of our  country but also  promoting  a cleaner and  greener environment for generations to come.”

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is a premier autonomous body  under the Ministry of  Road  Transport and  Highways, responsible for  the development, maintenance, and  management of National  Highways  across   the country.  NHAI  is  dedicated to providing safe, efficient,  and  sustainable road  infrastructure to support India’s  economic growth and  connectivity.
