Congress announced Tarun Pandey as its candidate for the ensuing bypoll to Jharsuguda Assembly constituency

Jharsuguda:10/4/23: The Congress today announced Tarun Pandey as its candidate for the ensuing bypoll to Jharsuguda Assembly constituency.

The announcement was made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge today.

“The Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, has approved the candidature of Tarun Pandey as Congress Candidate for the ensuing bye-election to the4 Legislative Assembly of Odisha from 07-Jharsuguda Constituency,” said a press release issued by the AICC.

“We will be contesting the bypoll on the principal issues of job for locals of Jharsuguda and law and order situation,” said Pandey in his reaction after being as the Congress’ candidate for the Jharsuguda bypoll.

Pandey said that they are confident of their win and that their contest will be with the BJD.

He thanked Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Sarat Patnaik and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge for his nomination as the Congress candidate for the bypoll.

The bypoll will be held on May 10 and the result will be declared on May 13.

On the other hand, the BJD has nominated slain Minister Naba Kisore Das’ daughter Dipali Das as its candidate for the bye election.

The bye election was necessitated following the brutal murder of the local MLA and the then Health Minister & Family Planning Minister Naba Kisore Das.  He was shot from close range by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gopal Krishna Das (now sacked) on January 29, 2023
